Meet Peggy, my latest creation...

I felt an urge to do something with the scrap bag as a means of escape from the laptop and here's what I came up with. Meet Peggy, my cute as a button peg bag.

Peggy is made from a mix of vintage and new fabrics left over from cushions I made. I just knew those strips of fabric would come in useful one day. She's practical and strong and holds oodles of pegs. If you'd like a Peggy of your own, I have an abundance of fabrics just waiting to be made up. Peggy is £9.99 including UK postage and packing. Contact me for details.

Collingwood Sofas showroom has arrived!

A shout out today for my partner Peter's business. His company Collingwood Sofas designs and makes fantastic quality sofas, suites and chairs at their factory in Newcastle upon Tyne. And they've just opened their new factory showroom.

There are lots of styles and hundreds of fabrics to choose from. You'll find everything from a tub chair to a sprawling corner group. And as you're buying direct from the manufacturer there are huge savings. You'll be amazed at the prices for handcrafted furniture of such excellent quality. Click here to visit the Collingwood Sofas website.

You'll find Collingwood Sofas at Unit 99/1 North Tyne Industrial Estate, Whitley Road, NE12 9SZ. The industrial estate is opposite the large Asda supermarket on Whitley Road (A191).

Get fit with flyers!

We're all struggling with sales at the moment, and I think it's time for some aggressive marketing. Craft fairs just don't seem to work for interiors up here in the North East. If it isn't food or jewellery, it just doesn't sell. So, I'm going to get my walking boots on and pound the streets with some direct advertising.

Quite pleased with my little flyers I've pulled together this week

Let's just see what they look like in the flesh, so to speak. I'm just hoping I get some decent weather. I don't fancy wandering in the wind and driving rain we've been having lately. I'm sure it's supposed to be Spring, isn't it? Anyway, anything that gets me up and about and out in the fresh air has to be good. Far too much time spent attached to my laptop these days, which I'm sure is why I've had so many bugs lately.

So watch out North East - I'm on a mission. I'll be visiting your letterboxes very soon...

Bank Holiday at Beautiful Belsay

Bank Holidays are always wet, windy and a bit of a let down it seems. But wait a minute...something very peculiar happened yesterday. As I opened the curtains expecting to see the usual gloom and drizzle I was greeted by brilliant sunshine and skies of azure. This is England, right?

So what to do when presented with such good fortune?  We decided on a trip to beautiful Belsay Hall  in Northumberland with it's castle, grounds and mansion hall.

I've always loved the gardens here, beautifully kept but not overly coiffured. A stroll towards the croquet lawn greeted us with a gorgeous heady perfume, very reminiscent of jasmine and stephanotis. As we turned the corner we discovered the source of the scent. Just look at the glorious sight of the hyacinth beds in full fragrant bloom. I could happily have gazed at them all day.

There was a fabulous exhibition of quilting in the hall; some stunning work, so intricate and colourful. And coming soon my love of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice will be indulged with a display of costumes from the ever popular BBC adaptation (you know the one, Colin Firth in the lake...need I say more?). I feel a return visit coming on already.

Belsay Hall is supported by English Heritage. Click here for details of how to get to Belsay Hall and what's on this summer.

A new look for Personal Space Interiors

My birthday month of May is upon us. The sunshine has finally arrived and with it all the beautiful spring flowers and thoughts of gardening...I say thoughts because as always I have the best intentions, then never actually get round to doing it properly. At least I've given my website a fresh new look

Find me at http://www.personal-space-interiors.co.uk and look out for my new product range coming soon. Following a few large customer orders, I've managed to build up quite a stash of lovely fabrics so it's time I made some new stock for the shop I think. Watch this space...
